in recent year, liquid biphasic system (lbs) has become a proven tool used in separation and purification technology for circular bioeconomy in microalgae biorefinery. the application of internet of things (iot) in lbss in clarification, partitioning and partial purification of biomolecules and bioproducts had showed the rapid development. this method can give high recovery yield and high purity in a single step. the lbs shows characteristics of high selectivity and is easily to scale up. therefore, lbs offers an attractive alternative that meets the requirements of the high demand in industry processes, and it is also beneficial in terms of economic and environmental protection. this presentation aims to share on the recent literature works in the development of different type of lbss and their applications in novel separations and purifications of biomaterials. hopefully this presentation will be able to build solid research collaborations among industry p s and researchers.

professor ir. ts. dr. pau-loke show is currently a full professor in the department of chemical engineering at khalifa university, abu dhabi, united arab emirates. he also affiliated with university of nottingham malaysia, where he is the professor of biochemical engineering, director of the sustainable food processing research centre and co-director of future food malaysia, beacon of excellence. according to research.com, prof show ranked #1 in the best rising stars of science in malaysia 2023 and ranked #51 in the world ranking. since he started his career, he has received numerous prestigious academic awards, including the recent young asian biotechnologist prize 2023, biology and biochemistry in malaysia leader award, highly cited researcher, world’s rising stars of science, apec science prize for innovation, research and education (“aspire”) malaysia award.he is now serving as an editor-in-chief in current nutrition & food science, review editor-in-chief in molecular biotechnology, deputy editor-in-chief in bioengineered, editor in scientific report, biocatalysis and agricultural biotechnology, associate editor at environmental science and ecotechnology, and editorial board member in bioresource technology, biochemical engineering journal, journal of hazardous materials. he has been recently awarded as the top peer reviewer powered by publons (top 1% of reviewers in global top peer reviewer awards in engineering, global top peer reviewer awards in cross-field, global top peer reviewer awards chemistry.
